In the recent time, demand for high strength ready-to-mix concrete has significantly increased in India. Environment issues along with reservoir depletion have made river sand (bajri) very scarce but in the Kolayat-belt, there exists paleo channels of River Saraswati and some tertiary sandstone formations which contain huge amounts of coarse sand deposits which, after washing and processing, provide low silt construction sand perfectly suited for high grade concrete, falling in Zone -2 (IS code -383).
